In particular, applications are encouraged from members aiming to achieve Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) or Registered Scientist (RSci) status. In order to provide maximum benefit to as many members as possible, the bursary is restricted to one successful application per member. The Water Science Bursary is awarded to researchers engaged in projects that involve application of chemical sciences in the management of the water cycle, and the impact these activities have on the environment. Awards of up to 2,000 per year are available in relation to the following activities: Continuing professional development research analysis activities for RSciTech or RSci awards MSc thesis projects Short sabbatical periods to complete relevant research Assistance in Water Science research projects Please note that activities are not restricted to the examples above, so please feel able to submit an application for an alternative activity for consideration. Please note though, that any activity needs to contain a high proportion of water-related chemical science which contributes to water sustainability (environment, economic, social) and have an identifiable practical application. Applicants must be members of the ¼ϲʹ and the Water Science Forum. MSc students, or students on other career development routes, including those who have no formal higher qualifications (e.g. degree or HND), and those wishing to obtain RSciTech or RSci qualifications, are particularly encouraged to apply. The value of each Water Science bursary is up to 2,000. As all requests for financial support are considered on their merits, it is vital that the application form contains sufficient detail for the Committee to make an informed assessment on the degree of water related chemical science involved. The applicant also needs to identify how their project is likely to further the Forums objectives. Applications should be made on the attached form and submitted to the Secretary of the Water Science Forum either electronically or care of Thomas Graham House. Each application is then reviewed by the Water Science Forum Committee bursary group by no later than 30th April. Should there be an under-allocation of budget in a financial year, the Water Science Forum may choose to hold a second call for nominations, usually from June to September. Successful applicants should note that any payments made in advance will go to the organising body, and not to the individual. As a condition of the bursary successful applicants are required to submit a completed appraisal of their research project. Please return completed form to: Secretary - Water Science Forum c/o Member Services ¼ϲʹ Thomas Graham House Science Park, Milton Road Cambridge CB4 0WF or email it to: HYPERLINK "mailto:NETWORKS@rsc.org" NETWORKS@rsc.org FAO the Secretary, Water Science Forum.
